Waiting game on buses until two arrived at once

ON Wednesday, October 30, I arrived at bus stop 450 (Guiseley outside the Leisure Centre) at 4pm to catch the 4.11 bus to Otley. No bus came until 4.42, when two 33As arrived together.

I had waited more than 40 minutes for a local journey and this is outrageous. I have complained to the bus company, my local MP and councillor at Leeds City Council.

I am expecting excuses from the bus company of roadworks etc but this is not acceptable. The roads were clear and unobstructed.

But in any case, bus companies should be aware of roadworks and make appropriate provision to maintain services. May I also point out that it was half-term and there was less school traffic on this road than usual.

When I hear of the proposals to build HS2 to speed up journeys between Leeds and London it infuriates me. If the transport companies are incapable of providing decent local services why in hell’s name is the Government wasting £50bn on this while ignoring the pathetic local services?
