Where has the flexibility gone?

From: Diana M Priestley, Fixby Road, Huddersfield.

CONGRATULATIONS to Mary Lawler (The Yorkshire Post, March 21) whose son, four days older than the school entry date of September 1, has been
allowed another 12 months to develop.

My son, born on September 4, was the opposite case; ready for school and complaining bitterly about “that silly playschool”. He actually entered school on his fifth birthday, the oldest child in the year.

When did all this crazy dictatorship happen? There
used to be entries in January,
and after the Easter break, to settle in children born throughout the year. Where has flexibility gone? And care for the individual? One size does not fit all.
