SINCE the lockdown has been eased in Whitby, we have been disturbed because we are getting overwhelmed along Church Street by very loud motorbikes.

For two evenings now there have been at least 20 in half an hour.

This is very overpowering and very unrelaxing. It’s very bad for our health, mentally and physically.

Church Street is already quite noisy with a lot of built-up traffic.

On a nice sunny summer’s evening, we can’t have any windows open.

I actually felt I wanted to run away from it. My head hurts, my ears ache and it affects my asthmatic problem, especially with the pollution and pollen at the moment.

These motorbikes should be made to use the new bridge into town.

The swing bridge is shut when it is the Goth weekends so can’t it be shut to motorbikes?

We long for peace and quiet, so please, could anything to be done to help this unrestful matter?

From: David Bentley, Whitby.
