Whitby’s thanks to vaccine teams – Yorkshire Post Letters

I’M writing to recognise and celebrate the amazing work of everyone who has been behind the effort to vaccinate local people in Whitby over the past three weeks. Those of you who have been vaccinated will be relieved. I recognise that those of us, like me, who are waiting will be anxious but, we must hope, not for long.

The NHS Local Vaccination Service based at the Whitby Pavilion is being run by the Whitby Coast and Moors Primary Care Network made up of all five GP practices in our area. They in turn have been supported by Scarborough Borough and North Yorkshire County Councils.

So far, they have reported that over 2,500 people, including those living in care homes, those aged 80 and over, and frontline health and care staff needed to look after them, have received an initial dose. There has been a huge volunteer effort to make this happen.

Everyone I know who has encountered it has had nothing but praise for their efficiency
and care. I also know we all 
hope that the wider efforts of 
the NHS are successful in bringing a steady supply of vaccine to Whitby so that we play our part in meeting the ambitious national target for its roll-out.
