Why is this generation too scared to return to work? – Yorkshire Post Letters

Do WE really need it confirmed from the Office of National Statistics that we are now in a recession for the first time in 11 years since the financial crash?

Is it not obvious that if you close the country down then it will have a serious impact? 730,000 lost jobs are just the start.

With the extended holiday for 9.6 million people on generous furlough, are people in denial as to what is coming?

The Chancellor has done his best to help some – but we are not all in it together, and many businesses and individuals are in desperate times.

Reduced state furlough should have been paid to all tax-paying working people to make a fairer playing field.

More people are now dying of influenza – so why are so many aspects of our lives still closed?

The last generation had no choice but to put their lives on the line for years to win a war against tyranny.

This generation appear, in my view, to be too scared to return to work in their cosy, sanitised offices and to help save the country from financial ruin.

Targeted Government help to those that really need it in theatre, live entertainment, hotels, restaurants and film and television production has to be a priority going forward.
