Why Horace and Doris still keep me smiling

From: Eric Vevers, Alwoodley, Leeds.

THE first thing I do with the dawning of a new day is to check I still have a pulse, the second is to listen for my Yorkshire Post to drop through my letter box and the third (if I haven’t fallen down the stairs) is to look up your newspaper’s Morris cartoon. A smile, a cough and a nice cup of tea usually come in at four, five and six. In fact, I have a collection of these great little smiles going back well over 20 years and although my family tell me I should “get a life” I often get out my collection as I settle down to a bedtime cocoa and I end the day with a smile on my face – just in case it might be my last!

So why am I writing to your esteemed newspaper about all this? Well, in recent years I have noticed a particular Morris cartoon being repeated several times and I feel a bit short-changed.

I know Morris is no longer with us but this old codger still enjoys his cartoons. Keep ‘em coming.
