Why Look North and its ‘chumminess’ is a turn-off – Yorkshire Post Letters

FOLLOWING recent correspondence on Look North and presenter Harry Gration, it seems that there will inevitably be changes following the BBC’s decision to cut costs on all regional news programmes.

I’d ask for less chumminess and fewer ‘in’ jokes. The focus ought to be more on what the region needs to thrive, rather than presenters spending so much time associating themselves with the people and with a select number of their favourite places.

When was the last time the programme examined why the area is one of the poorest ones in the UK?

TOM Richmond’s comments on the poor quality of Radio 5 Live these days are absolutely correct, but they are typical of the quality and bias that the BBC puts out these days (The Yorkshire Post, July 18).

I’m 75 next May and I, like many of my friends, shan’t be paying the licence fee (tax). Like many others, I have Sky, but that’s my choice.

From: Henry Cobden, Ilkley.

I AGREE with criticism about Radio 5 Live – it now uses its phone-ins just to promote wild conspiracy theories from listeners over Covid-19.
