Woods closed to children

From: James Campbell, Kempwell Drive, Rawmarsh, Rotherham.

JOHN Healey MP’s speech (Yorkshire Post, January 18) about Rotherham Children’s Imagination Library is a good idea to help children, and a first for the UK. Let’s hope it spreads. Mr Healey, you must treat all children the same.

Rotherham Council and the Labour Party have closed our community forest, Birchwood, Warren Vale, and the historic Roman banks have closed, through neglect and no maintenance. Our local schoolchildren used to have lessons learning about the woodland.

They designed the Dragon bridge for the stream and a seat for the weary. The children were very upset because of the closure. We are campaigning to get the children back, along with the vulnerable.

Is this pint sexist too?

From: Paul Morley, Ribblesdale Estate, Long Preston, North Yorkshire.

REGARDING a beer called “Top Totty” being banned from the Commons because it is sexist, we have a regular guest beer at my local called Blonde Witch, which shows on the pump plate a witch on a broomstick.

I would welcome comments on the name of this beer and if I am degrading women, or even Pagans, by drinking it.

Cycle rage

HOW moronic can cycling clubs get? The other day, travelling to Skipton to do our weekly shop, we got behind 30 cyclists, who were two abreast at a speed of no more than 25mph.

What a pain they were, with traffic backing up for half a mile behind them. It is time cycles were taxed, insured and carried a number plate on the back.
