Yob cyclists made stay at resort one of fear

From: K Chapman, Crossways Crescent, Harrogate, North Yorkshire.

I HAVE just returned from a four-day break in Scarborough. The B&B where we stayed was excellent. However, from the moment we stepped out of the hotel, it can only be described as four days of fear and harassment.

This was due to the fact that the majority of cyclists seem to ride on the pavements rather than on the road in Scarborough.

The police take no action against this law breaking, even though they are breaking seven laws. Why is this?

On Wednesday, April 6, while sitting near the train station, I witnessed at least 30 illegal cyclists using the pavement as a race track, terrorising and putting pedestrians in danger. All in one hour.

All the time I was in Scarborough, I was constantly having to look over my shoulder for yob cyclists, this includes postmen whom are some of the worst offenders on their huge bikes.

I shall remind the police that in not enforcing the law they are negligent.

I shall remind Scarborough Council that they have a duty to protect my health and safety, and in failing to do so they too can be held negligent.

If I was to be run down by a yob cyclist, then I would have no hesitation in suing both the Scarborough police and the council for negligence.

Scarborough is the most dangerous place I have ever visited.

Needless to say, I shall not be returning in the foreseeable future.
