The Yorkshire Post says: Manor reborn - Boost for South Yorkshire gem

It is Britain's biggest privately owned home with the kind of heritage that money can't buy. But, after a troubled recent past the future of Wentworth Woodhouse is looking brighter thanks to preservation plans drawn up to restore the Grade I Listed building.

If the proposals, which will be considered by Rotherham Council, get the go-ahead it will enable Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust to use millions of pounds worth of grants to prevent further deterioration and begin the process of restoring one of Yorkshire’s greatest buildings back to its former glory.

This is the latest stage in an ongoing campaign to not only safeguard its future but raise public awareness about this jewel on our doorstep.

It must be hoped that the council agrees to the plans, for it would be another major step forward on the path to transforming this majestic building into the “Chatsworth of South Yorkshire.”
