REGULAR correspondent Brian Sheridan (The Yorkshire Post, April 27) mentioned in his letter a fine actor in David Lonsdale, who plays David Stockwell in the long-running Heartbeat series now showing on ITV3.

I had the pleasure of meeting David on the set of Heartbeat some 10 years ago when my son Neil played opposite David in four outdoor sketches and scenes in an episode called Take Three Girls.

Neil only had the one episode and I know would have liked others, but he still talks about how David, from the moment they began the first scene, put him at his ease.

The next day he and Neil left Goathland for the Leeds studio to complete the filming for the episode, that had Neil in a police cell for having removed PC Bellamy’s whistle from his police uniform, which he then blew and was charged with assault.

The following day, my stay at the Goathland Hotel was made all the more pleasant as I discovered, after breakfast, that David had settled the bill for us both!
