Orphan Alfie goes from stray to star pooch in hit show

LOVEABLE collie-cross Alfie was a stray pooch but is now treading the boards as a musical star.

Two-year-old Alfie was a puppy when he was found locked in a cage with his mum and siblings.

Sadly, Alfie was the only survivor but with love from adoptive owner Elaine Fletcher he has been transformed from tragic orphan into a star pooch in West Yorkshire Playhouse’s production of Annie, in which he shares the role of Sandy.

The Playhouse is donating four Annie tickets to dog welfare charity Dogs Trust which will be raffled to raise funds.

Sarah Powell, Dogs Trust Leeds supporter relations officer, said: “Annie is such a great story and has so many similarities with some of the stray and abandoned dogs in our care.

“Alfie, being a former Dogs Trust resident, is perfect for the role as Sandy.

“We would like to thank West Yorkshire Playhouse who have generously donated tickets to the show for us to raffle and raise much needed pounds for hounds.”
