Osama bin Laden dead in a fancy dress shop window? Isn’t that anti-Islamic?

A FANCY dress shop window display in Sheffield showing Osama bin Laden being executed has been dubbed as offensive and anti-Islamic.

The joke mock-up features two life-size mannequins, one made to look like the al-Qaida leader, with a female American soldier holding a gun standing over his body.

The terrorist leader is slumped in a corner of the window, with joke eyes hanging out on springs and holding a white flag.

Standing over him is a female mannequin wearing a khaki army mini-dress and holding a plastic gun, with a giant Stars and Stripes in the background.

The display at Party On in Division Street, Sheffield, has been criticised by Chris Parsons from Chesterfield’s Stop the War Coalition.

He said: “It’s pretty nasty and tacky. What a lot of people fail to realise is that bin Laden is somewhat of a hero to millions of people in Third World Muslim countries and this display does nothing to improve the image of Sheffield.

“This sort of thing fuels groups like the British National Party and the English Defence League and decent people will find this offensive. It’s horrible, it’s-anti Islam and should be removed.”

Shop assistant Eve Cann, who put the display together said: “We like to put together window displays that are going to attract attention.

“While I have been at the counter there have been people laughing and taking photographs. We have not had anyone complaining or anything.”
