Outstanding gift in last term of head

THE head of an inner city nursery school has been given an early retirement present after her school received its second outstanding inspection report from Ofsted in her final term.

Jo Dix is preparing to step down from her role at Midland Road Nursery School, in Manningham, Bradford. In her last term, the nursery is celebrating receiving an inspection report from its latest Ofsted visit which described it as "brilliant" and rated its provision as outstanding.

Mrs Dix said: "I am delighted with the outcome of the recent Ofsted report because it reflects the dedication and commitment of all staff over the last few years and shows their hard work in making sure that 'every child matters' is a reality.

"It's our second outstanding Ofsted and it is particularly rewarding for myself as head teacher because I'm retiring at the end of the spring term.

"In the words of the inspector, the school is 'brilliant' and I will be very sad to leave it."

Teaching, provision for children in the early years foundation stage, the school's leadership and management, the effectiveness of the governing body, safeguarding children, links with the wider community, and children's personal development and behaviour were all rated as outstanding in the report.

Bradford Council executive member for services to children and young people Coun Michael Kelly said: "Everyone connected to Midland Road Nursery School should be extremely proud of this Ofsted report – it is exemplary. Well done to staff, parents, children, governors and the school community."
