Over £1m raised in water campaign

More than £1.6m has now been raised to give safe drinking supplies to communities in Africa by a North Yorkshire bottled water brand.

The money generated through sales of Thirsty Planet spring water, owned by Harrogate-based Water Brands Group, is enough to deliver clean water to more than a million people.

The cash is used by the charity Pump Aid to build “elephant pump” wells in villages in Malawi and Zimbabwe.

James Cain, managing director of Water Brands, said: “We are passionate about supporting such an important cause, and we’re extremely proud to have achieved over £1.6m in donations to Pump Aid through Thirsty Planet.

“Our ‘you hydrate we donate’ mantra is easy for consumers to get behind. They can all help make a huge difference to lives in Africa – as soon as they’ve purchased a single bottle, they already have.”
