Over £1m seized in raids forfeited after no claims

Over £1m in cash, seized during raids in Huddersfield earlier this year, has been forfeited to West Yorkshire Police.

Police secured a forfeiture order totalling £1.1m at Wakefield Magistrates’ Court after nobody came forward to claim the cash found by police in two raids in Crosland Moor, Huddersfield, in February.

Bundles of cash, heavily contaminated with heroin, were found at addresses on Thornleigh Road and Pembroke Court, where two men and two women, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering.

They were released without charge but the courts agreed with police the cash was generated as a result of drug trafficking in the West Yorkshire.
