Paedophile banned from going online

A MAN who sexually abused a young girl and took photographs on his mobile phone has been banned from using the internet.

Paul Shaw, 41, of Elder Road, Bradley, Huddersfield, yesterday pleaded guilty at Bradford Crown Court to five charges relating to his abuse of the youngster and further allegations of causing or inciting the girl to engage in sexual activity and possessing indecent images of children.

Shaw will now have to register as a sex offender with the police.

Prosecutor Peter Moulson said the crown would be opening the case against Shaw, when he is sentenced on March 29, on the basis that the photographing of the sexual touching was an aggravating feature.

Judge Jonathan Rose warned Shaw that he would have to consider whether to pass a fixed prison sentence or an indeterminate one.

He ordered a psychiatric report on Shaw with a view to the danger he might pose to youngsters.

The judge said Shaw's collecting and searching for paedophilic material on the internet increased the concern about the danger he posed. Shaw was granted bail but the judge imposed various restrictions including a ban on him using the internet.
