Paedophile jailed after making 12-year-old girl sign ‘ownership agreement’

A PAEDOPHILE has been jailed after he made a 12-year-old girl sign a sexual “ownership agreement” described by a judge as a “bizarre document”.

Steven Lomas was handed a three-year jail sentence at York Crown Court after the court heard that “Rule Three” allowed the schoolgirl to carry out sexual acts with him or on herself.

The document also banned her from drinking and smoking.

The court was told that the young victim initially treated the document in a light-hearted fashion, but when she signed it, it had become serious.

The Recorder of York, Judge Stephen Ashurst, called the agreement a “bizarre document” and told Lomas, who pleaded guilty
to inciting a girl under 13 to perform sexual actions and sexual assault, he posed a risk to children.

“It is perfectly obvious until you receive treatment, you will be a risk to children,” he said.

The court heard that Lomas, of Selby, North Yorkshire, sexually assaulted the girl and had been in a position of trust when he abused her.

Stephen Grattage, mitigating, told the court that the girl had treated the ownership in a “light-hearted” way, but it had become serious when she signed it.

He said that the abuse had ceased before the girl told an
adult at school what had happened.

Lomas wasn’t sexually attracted to 12-year-old girls generally, but he was attracted to this one, Mr Grattage said.

At the time, he had been going through a difficult period of his life and had lost his job. He was not thinking properly, the hearing was told.

“He now accepts it was completely wrong and he does want to be assisted in understanding more,” Mr Grattage told the court hearing.

In addition to the jail sentence, Lomas was put on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life. He was also made subject
to a sexual offences prevention
order banning him from living in the same house as girls aged under 16 or being with them unsupervised.

Lomas was also disqualified from working with children by the court.
