Page to stage in scriptwriting course

MATURE authors are being invited to turn their hand to scriptwriting at a workshop to teach the process of playwriting from page to stage.

Following various successful workshops in West Yorkshire, the writer, actor, and director Irene Lofthouse, is running a new course in North Yorkshire at the Georgian Theatre Royal in Richmond which starts on Wednesday next week.

Funded by the Co-op Membership Community Fund, the workshops, which will run every Wednesday between 10.30am and 3.30pm until June 9, are designed for the over-50s, although people as young as 18 can also take part.

The writers will see their work performed on the Georgian Theatre Royal stage on June 25.

Ms Lofthouse said: "This is a really exciting chance to get people in Richmond working on such ideas with the chance to see their work performed locally in the beautiful and intimate theatre in the town."
