Paintings show power of the sea
The gallery has teamed up with the RNLI for the exhibition, which opens tomorrow, of paintings showing the power of the sea.
Exhibitions curator Jan Bee Brown, with help from members of the RNLI, has selected some of the best watercolours by H B Carter showing man’s battle against the elements. They will be joined by the newly restored Roe painting which will be taking pride of place with its two sister paintings of the same theme: the infamous storm of 1880. The storms of October 1880 were amongst the worst in Scarborough’s history. Picture: Gerard Binks.
