Pair jailed over weapons find at airport

Two men who tried to get through airport customs with weapons including an electronic stun gun, pepper spray and a knuckle-duster have been jailed, the UK Border Agency said.

Jonathon Sutton-Kirkby, 23, of Duke of York Avenue, Wakefield, and Frederick Ayres, 28, of Bloemfontein Street, Cudworth, near Barnsley, tried to smuggle the weapons through Doncaster Robin Hood Airport after a flight from Bulgaria.

Both men were jailed for two-and-a-half years at Doncaster Crown Court yesterday.

They pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to possessing an offensive weapon and to possessing a firearm.
