Pair in store robbery getaway car jailed

ROBBERS who attacked a security guard outside a supermarket in Ossett ended up empty handed when the alarm was activated on the cash box they stole, staining the £5,000 inside with dye.

The box was recovered from a stolen Vauxhall Vectra abandoned near the store in South Parade.

At Leeds Crown Court yesterday Mohammed Rizwan Khan and Zaki Mahmood, both 23 from Birmingham, were each jailed for three and a half years for the robbery at Sainsbury's in Jacksons on February 10 last year.

Judge James Goss QC heard the pair were not the men who attacked the security guard but had been in the second getaway car which was hired in Khan's own name.
