Parishioners produce art exhibition

AN exhibition of art made by parishioners from across the Diocese of York is being made ready to go on show at a church in Hull this weekend.

Called God’s Creation, the display was first shown at York Minster and features contributions from a wide range of churchgoers.

It will open at St Cuthbert’s Church in Marlborough this coming Sunday and remain open until Saturday June 18.

The Vicar of St Cuthbert’s, the Rev John Cowan, said: “We are delighted that God’s Creation is coming to St Cuthbert’s church.

“Churchgoers from the Humber to the Tees and the A1 to the coast have created art on the theme of God’s Creation – and the exhibition includes work from professional artists, children’s groups and talented amateurs.

“The exhibition is part of the year of the environment which encourages churches in the Diocese of York to do their best to care for God’s Creation.”

“As Christians, we have a duty to care for our environment,” he added.

“We believe that God created the world and we humans have a responsibility to care for it and protect it for future generations.”
