Park set for playground improvements

TENS of thousands of pounds could be ploughed into improvements to a south Leeds park.

Councillors will next week consider approving £60,000 in funding for Cross Flatts Park in Beeston.

Leeds City Council’s inner south area committee is being asked for £50,000 to revamp the playground. A report to the committee said: “A number of options are being discussed with officers to make sure that the equipment suggested is age appropriate and long lasting. Consultation will be carried out with local children to confirm the most appropriate equipment to be installed.”

The remainder of the cash would be used to make improvements to the millenium garden.

The report said: “Members have requested the development of a scheme to improve the hard standing area at the rose garden in Cross Flatts Park.

“This improvement would have a positive impact on the park and link with the proposed improvements to the Watsonia Pavilion, which are being led by the Friends of Cross Flatts Park.”
