Passenger dies and driver badly injured in car crash

A 22-YEAR-OLD man was killed and another man seriously injured after a car crash in Firbeck, near Dinnington, at about 12.30am yesterday.

Marc Bingley, from Carlton-in-Lindrick, who was a passenger in the car, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motorist called police when they found a tree partially blocking the B6463 Lamb Lane and an injured man in the road.

Police and fire officers went to the scene and found a white Honda Integra Type-R car stuck in a tree-lined verge.

A police spokesman said: "Officers believe the Honda had been travelling towards Dinnington when it left the road to the nearside and collided with a tree, causing serious damage to the car."

The driver, a 24-year-old man from North Anston, was the man found in the road and is in Rotherham Hospital with "life-threatening" injuries. Witnesses are asked to call 0114 2202970.
