Passengers disrupted as emergency engineering works hits services in the north

RAIL passengers in the north have been hit by long delays due to emergency engineering works.

Journeys between Doncaster and Grantham on Virgin Trains East Coast will be disrupted until at least 12.30pm, the company said.

Its routes between Edinburgh, Newcastle, Leeds and London Kings Cross have been affected, as have the Grand Central route between Bradford, Sunderland and Kings Cross; and Hull Trains between Hull and Kings Cross.

Some Virgin Trains East Coast trains are running between Doncaster and Grantham, but Hull Trains are unable to travel on this route.

First Hull Trains passengers may use Virgin Trains East Coast between Doncaster and Grantham; East Midlands trains between Sheffield and London Kings Cross; Northern and CrossCountry trains between Doncaster and Sheffield; and Great Northern services via any reasonable route.

Virgin Trains East Coast passengers may use: CrossCountry, East Midlands Trains, Great Northern, Grand Central and TransPennine Express services via any reasonable route; and Virgin Trains services between London Euston and Edinburgh.
