First Direct workers and friends raised around £6,000 for Maggie’s after hiking up Whernside, Ingleborough and Pen-y-ghent. The charity offers free support for people with cancer and needs £6m to build and open a new centre in the grounds of St James’s Hospital, Leeds.

Joe Gordon, head of First Direct, said: “The first direct team and their friends and family went more than the proverbial extra mile for Maggie’s and it was an amazing effort from all of them.”

The YEP continues its Million for Maggie’s campaign to help get the new state-of-the-art centre built.
