Police are investigation the incident and appealing for information to trace one of the vehicles involved.
The incident happened at around 7.25pm when three vehicles, a silver Audi RS6, gun-metal grey Audi A3 and silver BMW 3 Series and their occupants were seen “acting suspiciously” on The Common.

A local 49-year-old man was then knocked to the ground by the one of the vehicles which began to make off at speed, resulting in serious head injuries. He remains in a stable but critical condition in hospital. Another local man, aged 56, sustained minor injuries to his legs.
Officers recovered a BMW 3 Series car from the scene and the Audi A3 car was located a short time later at Henley Road, in Dewsbury.
PC Julian Ingham of the Safer Roads and Neighbourhoods Support Team West said; “I would appeal to anyone who was in and around the area at the time and may have seen either of the three vehicles or their occupants prior to, or immediately after the incident to come forward.
“In particular, I would appeal to anyone who has any information as to the whereabouts of the silver Audi RS6 which has extensive rear end damage which made off from the scene.
