Badger found 'dehydrated and starving' by Leeds couple as fundraiser launched

'Tinkerbell' was found in Leeds before being rescued by High Peak Badger Group based in North Derbyshire.

The voluntary organisation cares for and protects badgers in the local area and has facilities for emergency intensive care Tinkerbell requires.

Committee member Debbie Bailey went to collect the cub and she was in intensive care within two hours, the group told the Yorkshire Evening Post.

Tinkerbell 'perked up' overnight however is still very sick and will need further intensive care in the coming weeks.

In a fundraiser on GoFundMe, the group said: "We need your support to care for Tinkerbell and the other badgers we have been caring for this year as we can't do our normal fundraising and we are a voluntary group relying solely on donations.

"Tinkerbell needs your help!"

So far, more than £1500 has been raised - smashing an original £800 target.
