These stunning photographs - posted on Mark's History Facebook page - show a route through Rodley which includes an amazing bridge, kissing gates and features along the canal. Here is an advised route posted by Mark:
1. Crossing Calverley Bridge
'If you cross Calverley Bridge from the direction of Rodley heading to Horsforth you will see a footpath leading off down some steps(1) to your right. There is nothing much in the way of grand old buildings down this route but nevertheless it is full of history.' Photo: Mark's History
2. Hidden Bridges
'The footpath itself is hundreds of years old and can be seen on the 1830s map of the area. Take yourself down the footpath keeping the river on your right and you will come to the bridge that carries the Ring Road up to Horsforth.' Photo: Mark's History
3. Spectacular views
'Whilst the bridge(2) above which was built in the 30s isn't all that spectacular the view from it and the view underneath it more than makes up for it.' Photo: Mark's History
4. Thornton Wood
'Again, carry on following the path looking down as you go and you will see a pipe(3) visible on the surface, its use? Who knows? Eventually it will lead you into Thornton Wood(4) where the trees have toppled and some parts of the walls are now part of the trees. ' Photo: Mark's History
