Biker dies in Yorkshire Dales crash and driver injured in A64 collision

A motorcyclist has died and a car driver has been seriously injured in two separate crashes in North Yorkshire over the weekend.

The 52-year-old biker was riding in convoy with four friends when his black Suzuki struck a Range Rover near Ribblehead on the B6255. The route, which runs between Hawes and Ingleton, is popular with motorcycle clubs.

He was pronounced dead at the scene after the collision just before midday on Saturday.

Police are now trying to obtain dashcam or CCTV footage which shows the crash or the lead-up to it.

In a separate collision on the A64 between York and Scarborough on Sunday, the Yorkshire Air Ambulance had to be called after a car and a van collided near Huttons Ambo.

The driver of the car, a Renault Megane, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after the collision with a VW Transporter.

The accident happened shortly before 3.30pm and the road was closed.
