Motorist Michael Gledhill, a former soldier, has been jailed for four years and eight months after causing the death of a cycling enthusiast. John Radford, a 69-year-old, was knocked from his bike in a road rage attack in Holmfirth with Gledhill using his car as a weapon. Mr Radford fell on to the road and suffered catastrophic brain damage after Gledhill, 24, hit the back of his bike.

Rachael Maskell, the York Central MP, has spoken out about the city council for only waiving council tax on flooded properties for three months. Ian Atkins, who heads the Merseyside club’s European scouting network, watched Byram during last night’s 2-1 defeat against Ipswich Town.
