Leeds residents confused by 'spotlight' across sky - here is the source and the reason why

Leeds residents were left confused by a 'spotlight' shining across the city skyline tonight.

Residents across Burley and Kirkstall were confused after spotting the light on Sunday evening.

Many took to social media to discuss the source of the light.

However, it can now be revealed that the origin of the light strobe is Zig Zag Lighting on Burley Hill.

The lighting company provides stage lighting for huge acts and recently provided services for Bingley Live and All Time Low.

Tonight's light show is part of a Europe wide project called #OurShiningLight

Production companies are shining bright lights into the sky to show solidarity in support of those working to fight the virus.

The goal for the lighting companies is to light the sky enough 'to be seen from space'.
