Mateusz Lugowski: Search continues for missing Wakefield teenager six months on

Police are continuing to investigate the unexplained disappearance of a Wakefield teenager who has been missing for six months.

Police have released CCTV images of Mateusz Lugowski as they continue to search for the youngster

Mateusz Lugowski, 16, was last seen close to Chantry Bridge, in the city centre, on Sunday, January 19.

Can you help police find Mateusz Lugowski?

Described as 5ft2in with short brown hair, Matuesz was last seen wearing grey jogging bottoms with a dark stripe and a grey and black hoodie.

He was carrying a distinctive light and dark blue rucksack with a white stripe, as well as a Huawei mobile phone.

More than 5,000 people have joined a Facebook group dedicated to bringing him home, and posters with details of his last known movements were hung across the city.

West Yorkshire Police said they were continuing to support Mateusz's family, who are still struggling with his disappearance.

But they are not looking for anyone else in connection with his disappearance.

Superintendent Vicki White, of Wakefield District Police, said: "Despite the ongoing investigation and media appeals to find Mateusz over the last six months, we have not seen or heard from him since January 19.

"We are acutely aware of the pain Mateusz’s disappearance is having on his family and continue to support them at this time.

"The search for him has involved a number of resources; CCTV enquiries, house to house, specialist search officers, neighbourhood police patrols, underwater search teams, drones, dogs and helicopters.

"I wish to stress that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with Mateusz’s disappearance.

"I would like to thank all the people of Wakefield and from across West Yorkshire who have helped in the search for Mateusz, we have had hundreds of calls and information given, and followed up every call and piece of information in the search for Mateusz but unfortunately this hasn’t led to any further sightings."
