Mountain rescue team save Yorkshire walker who fell down cliff into river on 'Sunday stroll'

A mountain rescue team saved a Yorkshire walker out on a 'Sunday stroll' with his family - who stumbled and fell down a cliff into a river gully.

Edale Mountain rescue team were contacted by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist at an incident on the western edge of Sheffield, near the Hallam Golf Club.

The call came in as the team were undertaking their monthly kit check session at base, so the team vehicles were able to respond straight away.

Whilst the ambulance service and a BASICS doctor assessed the patient the team set up for the stretcher evacuation.

The walker was secured on the mountain rescue stretcher and carried back up to the waiting ambulance.

After the job was finished, the team returned to base to decontaminate and sort the kit ready for the next incident.
