Staff at North Yorkshire meat company preparing Christmas dinners for area's most vulnerable

Workers at one of the main employers in a North Yorkshire market town will provide meals to some of the area’s most vulnerable residents on Christmas Day.

Staff at the Malton-based meat processing company Karro Food will be volunteering to prepare festive dinners next Friday.

Seven volunteers from the firm and six of their friends and family will help at the Malton and Norton Community Kitchen, cooking and delivering the meals.

Employees have also helped provide the food and wrapped 60 boxes for meals to be delivered in, including a hand-written card to help bring some festive cheer to the recipients.

Cathy Lafferty, human resources director at Karro Food, said: “The work that the Malton and Norton Community Kitchen is doing to support those in need is absolutely vital, especially during what has been a very tough year.

“If this year has taught us anything, it is the importance of our community, family and friends.”
