Stokesley Netball Club pay tribute to player, 33, who died in crash

Amie Linton, 33, died when her Nissan Qashqai was struck by a BMW in the town on Tuesday evening.

The driver of the BMW, a 41-year-old-man from Ingleby Barwick, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and of being above the legal alcohol limit.

Amie was a year six teacher at Norton Primary Academy in Teesside.

Stokesley Netball Club, who play in the Hambleton League against other teams from North Yorkshire, posted a tribute to wing attack Amie on Facebook:-

"The love and thoughts of everyone at Stokesley Netball Club go out to the family of our darling Amie. She was, and will continue to remain, at the very heart of the club; full of life, full of passion and full of humour. We will miss her terribly, individually and collectively both on and off the court. Each of us has our own special memories of our wonderful friend and team-mate, memories which will hold close to our hearts forever. She was one of the world's best."

The Hambleton Netball League clubs have also begun a collection in Amie's memory.

Amie's employers, Northern Education Trust, confirmed her death in the collision and offered their condolenses to her partner and daughter.

They said she was an 'inspiring success story' who had joined the school as a teaching assistant before qualifying as a teacher. She had been promoted to phase leader shortly before her death.
