Woman killed in lorry collision outside Marks and Spencer in Northallerton named

A woman killed when she was struck by a lorry while walking through Northallerton town centre has been identified.

Pauline Thomas, 84, from Stokesley, died after the accident outside Marks and Spencer and Kwik Fit on Brompton Road at 12pm on Friday.

The pedestrian was hit by a blue Scania lorry driven by a man in his 50s from Catterick, who was unhurt and has been spoken to be police.

North Yorkshire Police said: “Pauline’s family are devastated by her sudden and horrific death. They would like to thank the emergency services and members of the public who attended the scene and cared for Pauline, as well as those who supported family members, both at the scene and afterwards.”
