At around 5pm on Friday (June 19), Humber Rescue was contacted after a 41ft motor yacht had run aground, with three people onboard.

The people were not injured and had good spirits, and also had enough food and water onboard to stay overnight. A lack of water meant the rescue efforts were unable to get close enough to tow the boat back to shore on Friday evening - but the three occupants of the boat were rescued the following day.

At around 5am on Sunday (June 21), two rescue boats were launched and managed to get the yacht off the bank and onto deeper water, so it could be towed back to safety.

A statement from Humber Rescue said: "Once on scene our smaller boat assessed the vessel and one of our crew members plus one of the motor yachts crew boarded the vessel.

"A tow line was established between our larger boat and the motor cruiser. We successfully towed the vessel clear of the bank. Once clear we transferred another one of the motor yachts crew and another Humber Rescue crew member aboard the causality vessel.

"A full assessment of the vessel was carried out, with no damage or pollution reported she continued to Hull Marina under her own power with Humber Rescue escorting the vessel along the way. Team stood down and returned to station with great appreciation from the casualty vessel."
