The perfect place for a Jubilee celebration

CHILDREN at a primary school in York have been decked out in red, white and blue as they prepare to hold their own Jubilee party – in the aptly-named Jubilee Terrace.

Those at St Barnabas CE Primary thought it would be fitting to take advantage of the school’s location and host a party to mark the Queen’s 60 years on the throne.

The 60-year anniversary of the coronation itself will fall on Saturday, June 2, when the Queen will attend the Epsom Derby.

On the following day, the Big Jubilee Lunch will be held, as officially launched by Angela Griffin in Leeds last month. On the same day, up to a thousand boats will sail along the River Thames for the Diamond Jubilee Pageant.

On Monday, June 4, the Queen, the Duke of Edinburgh and other members of the Royal Family will attend a Jubilee concert at Buckingham Palace, with performances coming from acts including Tom Jones, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Annie Lennox, Elton John and Stevie Wonder.

The Queen will also attend a service at St Paul’s Cathedral on Tuesday, June 5, before a lunch at Westminster Hall and a RAF flypast at Buckingham Palace.
