Photographer provides a snapshot of life in the city where he worked

SNAPSHOTS of life in Bradford in the second half of the 20th century are to go on display in the city.

The photographs provide a glimpse into the social and working life of the people of Bradford during this period.

They were taken by Bradford photographer C H Wood and will go on display at Bradford 1 Gallery in Centenary Square from today until August 22.

C H Wood was one of the best known photographers in the region with a client list that included the majority of the large textile, engineering and manufacturing firms of the time.

Focus on Bradford will include aerial views of the city centre that show how Bradford has changed over the past 60 years.

A number of events will run alongside the exhibition. They include a family day on Thursday, June 3, and Thursday, August 12, between 1pm and 4pm. There will be free arts and crafts activities with everyone welcome.

Drawing classes for eight to 12-year-olds will be taking place on June 3 and July 1, from 4.30pm until 5.30pm, and for adults from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Basic materials will be provided but booking is essential.

On June 16, between 11am and 4pm, there will be a digital photography masterclass with Ian Beesley. The class costs 20 and booking is essential.
