Photographer snaps up business advice

IN A flash of inspiration, Darren Turner has made a life-changing decision after being persuaded by his dying cancer victim father to follow a dream of becoming a professional photographer.

After ten years working at Morrison's, Mr Turner, 37, has opened his portrait photographer business – Capture the Moment, on Southcoates Lane, Hull – and become a landmark figure to be helped by Probe, the Hull agency that helps grow local businesses and boost people's job prospects.

Mike Thompson, Probe pre-enterprise adviser, said: 'I was able to help Darren with his business plan, apply for grants to buy more lenses and book him onto courses for self-employed people. He's the 300th person to be helped by Probe and this achievement means we've helped 40 businesses to get off the ground.'
