Photographer’s focus on Brontë Country in talk

AN illustrated talk is to be held about the work of Haworth-based landscape photographer and filmmaker Simon Warner.

Mr Warner will talk about his own work and contrast his photographs with paintings by the likes of Joseph Pighills and Fay Godwin, famous for capturing the brooding nature of the moors above Haworth and Oxenhope.

The free event will be held at Bradford Council’s Manor House Museum in Ilkley on Saturday, June 23 at 2pm.

The talk is being held in support of the popular Moors Views exhibition. This displays photographs taken as part of a year-long competition, in which people were asked to capture all four seasons on the South Pennine uplands.

As part of their prize, the three overall winners – John Ashton, John Lowes and David Martin – recently spent the day with Mr Warner when they explored the moorland edge above Hard Castle Crags and were encouraged to look at the details of the terrain.

The exhibition also features work from Bradford Museums and Galleries’ collections.
