Photographers snap up chance to turn themselves into artists

creative adults with learning disabilities are showcasing their works of art at an exhibition in Bradford.

As part of a digital photography and fine art course hosted by Bradford District Care Trust, 21 budding artists have learnt a range of artistic techniques from taking pictures to editing on the computer and presenting their work to the public.

On Monday July 4 their hard work over the last 12 months will go on display at the exhibition Taking Photographs Making Art, at Cottingley Cornerstone Community Centre.

On display will be a range of paintings, drawings and photography.

Andrew Waller, Bradford District Care Trust project manager, said: “The group has shown tremendous enthusiasm and creativity. The project has enabled the artists to use interesting art mediums to think about how they see things and how they can express their thoughts and feelings through art. The artwork is fantastic and well worth a look.”

Working closely with local artists Tony O’Connell and Tim Curtis the group has learned new skills, learned to work together as a group and developed their drawing and painting skills.

The Community Centre is welcoming visitors from July 4 to July 8, 10am to 4pm. Admission is free.
