A photographic take on love and loss

The heart-breaking loss of a loved one is just one emotion captured in a new three series of photographs telling of recent happenings in the life of Barnsley-based photographer Sacha Ferrier.

As a promise to his late-wife, and to ensure his young son would always have a clear understanding of his mother, the images portray personal possessions, questions raised and an attempt to explain the unknown.

The ‘Transience’ exhibition opens today at The Gallery@ The Civic, Hanson Street, Barnsley, and will run until May 2.

Ferrier started in digital photography in 2011 and has a penchant for Baroque and Dutch still life, which is clear in the nature of his photographic works.

He will give a talk about his work at the gallery on Saturday, March 22, at 2pm. Tickets are £5. picture: scott merrylees
