Photography exhibition to be staged in new art showcase

THE latest showcase of independent artists will be staged this month in a photography exhibition with images of some of the region’s famous landmarks.

The Artists and Artisans project has been launched to bring a diverse range of talent from across a host of different media to the Boroughbridge area of North Yorkshire.

The initiative is being run by Sharon Longcroft, of Poplar Framing in Boroughbridge, and Judith Hartup, a botanical artist from Newton-on-Ouse, and a new exhibition featuring the work of professional photographer Lizzie Shepherd will be held from April 21.

Among the images which will be on show are photographs of Byland Abbey in North Yorkshire and the Cleveland Way as well as a sunrise at Saltwick Bay, near Whitby.

The first event of the Artists and Artisans project saw a one-off exhibition organised at Aldborough Village Hall in late March, which featured the work of a range of artists.

The new photography exhibition will also include the work of artist Marina Emptage on the opening day. It will then run until May 18 at the Popular Framing store in Boroughbridge.
