Picturedrome dream setting for Shakespeare’s comedy
Far Out Theatre, run by young performers from Dearne Valley, will be at The Picturedrome in Holmfirth, near Huddersfield, as part of the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Open Stages Project that aims to introduce more performers and audiences to the works of the playwright.
They will be bringing their production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, one of Shakespeare’s best-known plays, to town after a try-out at Cusworth Hall in Doncaster.

Hide AdCompany director Vicky Evans said: “The Picturedrome is the perfect setting for our version of Midsummer.
“Our interpretation has a quirky, rock’n’roll feel so the fact that we’ll be working in an amazing music venue really suits it.
“We’re giving the show a very bohemian, music festival design – lots of colour and light and some very vintage costume designs.”
The Holmfirth performances on Saturday and Sunday August 13 and 14 both start at 7.30pm.
The company says they aim to produce theatre that is “both popular and challenging, whimsical and profound, home-grown and far-flung, for the people living in and beyond our community.”
