In pictures: Fire crews put out large blaze near Harrogate

A tweet from North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue service read: "Crews from #Harrogate, #Ripon & #Knaresborough fighting 100 sqm of grassland on fire west of #ScargillReservoir south of the A59. Further resources on route from #Summerbridge along with a water bowser from #Tadcaster."

Six fire engines were on the scene.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said when the news broke: "Fire crews are likely to be there for some time fighting the fire."

Joint Watch Manager at Skipton fire station, Martyn Hughes said: "Crews have made really good progress, however we will remain on scene for some time to deal with various hot spots and areas flaring up."

Mr Hughes has since confirmed with the Harrogate Advertiser that all crews have now left the scene. He added that the fire service is currently recruiting on-call firefighters at a number of stations that attended the incident today.
