And now, to celebrate the stunning spectacle of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France traversing the county for the first time, The Yorkshire Post has published a souvenir picture special.

Spanning 66 pages it features the best photographs of the opening stages of the race when over the course of one weekend in July, an estimated 2.5 million people lined the streets for the first two stages of the Tour, between Leeds and Harrogate, and York and Sheffield.

The enthusiasm of spectators made for some quite incredible scenes as the international riders cycled over hill and down dale, and through the villages, towns and cities along the way.

Our special picture publication is a chance to relive and savour those unprecedented sights again and again.

Ian Day, assistant editor at The Yorkshire Post, said: “Every photograph taken of the Grand Départ was a logistical challenge that required meticulous planning, but our photographers’ hard work paid off in spectacular fashion. Our limited edition souvenir picture special captures the very best scenes of what was an amazing weekend that will live long in the memory.”

The glossy souvenir magazine is priced at £2.99 and is on sale now at selected retailers throughout Yorkshire. For a list of stockists, visit The Yorkshire Post website.
