Pie company wins top food award

TOPPING’S Pie Company, a family-run Doncaster business, has won a three-star gold rating from the Great Taste Awards for its new chicken and smoked ham speciality pork pie.

Organised by the Guild of Fine Food, the Great Taste Awards is generally regarded as the UK’s most renowned food awards.

Topping’s also picked up two one-star gold ratings for its new Yorkshire pasty and its new hot chilli beef pie.

Roger Topping, managing director of Topping Pie Company, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our chicken and smoked ham pie has picked up the much coveted three-star gold rating Great Taste Award.

“Both Maggie and I are proud to produce premium-quality products made to original family recipes using the very best local ingredients.

“It’s fantastic for our pie to be showcased as an elite product by the most trusted and recognised food and drink awards.

“To win a Great Taste Award is to speciality food what Michelin is to fine dining, so we would like to thank the Guild of Fine Food for this honour.”

The 2011 Great Taste Awards attracted more than 6,000 entries.
